I came across Pencil vs. Camera Art few years ago and it fascinated me a lot. I ended up exploring and searching every single piece of this art form on the internet. While I was searching the images on internet, there was a name I was coming across all the time, the name was Ben Heine’s. I bookmarked his website, blogs and pages, and shared some pictures of the art on Facebook and Twiter too.

Ben Heine is a Belgian multidisciplinary visual artist and is best known for his ‘Pencil vs. Camera Art’, ‘Digital Circlism’ and ‘Flesh and Acrylic’.

Pencil vs. Camera art mixes art and photography. It blends imagination and reality. And he does this with tools like illusion and surrealism. Throughout his journey he has focused on themes like Friendship, Love, Loneliness, Freedom, Nature and After Life.

Ben Heine says, “I just make art for people. I want them to dream and forget their daily troubles. I used to write poems many years ago, I want to convey a poetic and philosophical meaning into my pictures, and each new creation should tell a story and generate an intense emotion, like a poem, like a melody.”

Ben says the initial idea of this Pencil vs. Camera concept was a coincidence while he was writing a letter.

Ben Heine is represented in various Art Galleries throughout the world. He has been working in collaboration with Samsung SMART CAMERA since 2010 and is sponsored by the company.
