After pop-up cameras, it seems  the new trend to continue the trend of the bezel-less display, is that of an in-display front camera, as OPPO is now among the first companies to come up with the new trend.

Following rumors of Samsung launching a smartphone with an in-display selfie snapper, OPPO has now showcased the same technology, via a tweet, marking the onset of a new technology 2019 will soon be witnessing.

The video posted by OPPO shows the working of the in-display front camera: the camera app is opened, the image is clicked, and the tapping on the camera (present in the display) opens up the resultant image.

As the video is a short one and the technology has been demoed for the very first time by the Chinese company, there is no word on the image quality and on the feasibility of the new camera setup.

Additionally, we lack further details regarding the smartphone, which has been showcased with the in-display selfie camera.

In addition to OPPO, Xiaomi could also be joining the new league, as the Chinese company has reportedly filed for a patent for the same camera technology, as hinted by a new tweet.

It is suggested that Xiaomi could incorporate a secondary display under the primary screen which will contain the front camera and the necessary sensors. However, details regarding the working of the camera setup and whether or not it will be visible remain unknown.

The new tech trend, which is all set to enter the tech world, will ensure lesser bezels without compromising on the cameras. As it is an emerging tech, we can’t really comment on how good or bad it will be. Therefore, stay tuned to Fossbytes for more information.
