OnePlus TV Round-Up: Launch, Rumored Specs, And More

OnePlus TV

Quite recently, OnePlus made it official that it will soon foray into the smart TV segment and come up with a TV with an obvious epithet — the OnePlus TV. Competing against the likes of Xiaomi, OnePlus’ smart TV is soon to make its entry, that too in September.

While OnePlus did not refrain from making its entry into the TV arena official, it still hasn’t told us entirely about the new OnePlus product.

So here I am with a OnePlus TV rumor-roundup to keep you updated if you aren’t.

OnePlus TV Rumor Roundup

OnePlus TV Name and Logo

To settle all the rumors surrounding OnePlus’ smart TV venture, OnePlus, a couple of days ago released the official name and the logo for its TV. After brainstorming, the Chinese company came up with the simple name and logo — the OnePlus TV — so that we never forget it, just the way we keep in mind the OnePlus smartphones.

With a simple name and logo, OnePlus aims to reflect its ideology and follows the geometric sequence we are aware of. Going deep down in its meaning, OnePlus suggests that the OnePlus TV logo takes forward the same meaning as OnePlus. “One represents at the moment and Plus means endless possibilities for the future“, trying to keep up with the “Never Settle” spirit for sectors other than smartphones.

OnePlus TV Launch

After telling us that a OnePlus smart TV is on its way, OnePlus also teased when it will be arriving.  OnePlus will be officially launching the OnePlus TV on September 26 in India. Being an India-first OnePlus product, it will launch alongside the OnePlus 7T and the OnePlus 7T Pro.

Following its arrival on the Indian shores, the smart TV will reach other markets such as in North America, Europe, and China.

OnePlus TV Design

This area is the most anticipated, and quite little is known about it. While we know the TV will have a 55-inch screen size (and other possible display sizes too), we don’t know what it will look like.

Going by the small hints, the OnePlus TV will support a stand which will start from the top, running down to the end.

I expect a sleek design, just like we want our TVs to be, and I am hoping OnePlus will come with a design ethos for its TV.

OnePlus TV Rumored Specs

Even though OnePlus has been all vocal about its upcoming venture, we lack concrete details about the OnePlus TV. Nonetheless, we have a couple of leaks and rumors to satisfy our urge to know something about the new OnePlus product.

If we go by the most recent tweet by a Twitter handle Android TV Rumors, the device will be powered by a MediaTek MT5670 processor, along with Mali-G51 GPU. The most likable choice of an operating system will be Android TV 9.0, which is something we expect.

The OnePlus TV is confirmed to span 55-inches screen and come with a 1080p screen resolution. The display will be based on QLED display panel tech. Additionally, it is expected to come in various other display sizes: 43-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch.

OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus TV will come equipped with Dolby Vision and eight speakers. Another confirmed element will be support for a remote (much like the Apple TV remote).

Furthermore, the smart TV is speculated to have 3GB of RAM, and there could be more RAM/ROM options available to choose from.

More features include volume control, a seamless switch between apps, a shortcut tab to access favorite apps, and more.

Although other information is scarce, OnePlus’ TV could come with the usual connectivity options a smart TV ought to have — Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and more. Additionally, support for Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa is a must, given that most smart TVs have it in them.

OnePlus TV Price and Availability

The OnePlus TV is sure to be made available via Amazon India, as suggested by the now up Notify Me page on the e-commerce site. What remains unknown is the price tag, which will pop up when the device gets officially unveiled. However, we are assuming the OnePlus TV will be a mid-ranger and fall below the 50k mark.

While Xiaomi has a Mi LED TV Pro that is currently priced at Rs 47,999, I expect OnePlus to price its smart TV a bit lower than this, given that it is a direct competitor and needs to set its foot in the TV arena.

To clear the air, the aforementioned details regarding the forthcoming OnePlus TV are not entirely reliable. We have to wait until the launch event in a couple of days.
