OnePlus has officially announced that it will be ending software support for its 2018 flagships, the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T, meaning the devices won’t be receiving further software updates. The phones received 3 years of major Android updates starting from Android 9 (Pie) to Android 11.
For starters, the OnePlus 6 series launched with Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box and featured Qualcomm’s 2018 flagship, the Snapdragon 845 processor. It was also crowned the best fast flagship of 2018 due to its unbeatable performance.
Rest In Peace—OnePlus 6, OnePlus 6T
The announcement was posted on the OnePlus Community where a OnePlus staff member Abdul B. wrote, “After 3 major updates and more than 3 years of updates, around 60 Closed Beta builds and over 30 Open Beta builds it’s now time to close a chapter and announce the end of OnePlus 6 and 6T official software support.”
The smartphone giant pushed the last update back in November 2021, which brought the November security patch to the flagship. The phone will no longer receive security updates.
