After months of anticipation and leaks, OnePlus has finally announced the release date of OnePlus 8-series.

The smartphone maker released a short clip on its Twitter handle and announced that it would release its next-gen smartphones on 14th April 2020. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the company will host the event digitally, and you can live stream the event.

The short teaser clip confirmed 120Hz display on at least one OnePlus 8 device and 5G capability. Previously, the company’s CEO, Pete Lau, has already indicated that all the smartphones of the OnePlus 8 series will be 5G capable.

He has also mentioned that “the new technology does add costs, so costs have risen in comparison to 4G products.” Thus, we can expect OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro to be costlier than its predecessor.

A majority of users anticipating the OnePlus 8 series are excited about OnePlus 8 Lite, a rumored budget smartphone from the company carrying high-end features. OnePlus 8 Lite is expected to feature a 90Hz display, triple-rear camera setup, and a MediaTek Dimensity 1000 processor instead of Snapdragon chipset.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer company will likely include an IP rating on its smartphones this time, and we could also see the wireless charging capability in OnePlus 8 Pro.
