Short Bytes: Nvidia is all set to hit the bar with its new power-packed Nvidia Titan X graphics card. This top-class GPU will be available at a hefty price tag of $1200. The company has published a blog describing the hardware specifications of the graphics powerhouse.

The new Titan X graphics card from Nvidia is a gamer’s dream come true. Stuffed with 12 gigabytes of GDDR5X video RAM, the card comes with a little price tag of $1200.  Titan X is the result of $1 bet between the Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang and a top hardware engineer, Brian Kelleher. Huang now owes $1 to Brian.

Titan X is the result of $1 bet between the Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang and a top hardware engineer, Brian Kelleher. Huang now owes $1 to Brian.

What was the bet exactly?

“Brian Kelleher, our top hardware engineer, bet our CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang, we could get more than 10 teraflops of computing performance from a single chip. Jen-Hsun thought that was crazy.”

As per the blog post, Titan X utilises Nvidia’s new Pascal GPU architecture and the number of CUDA cores in this graphics beast have been bumped to 3.584.

“We said our GTX 1080 delivers an “irresponsible amount of performance.” It was a bit reckless. But this is even more reckless.”

A couple of months ago, Nvidia also launched the world’s first supercomputer for deep learning and AI. The company is also rumored to be working on NLinux, a Linux distro for the gamers.

The Nvidia Titan X graphics card will be available for purchase from Aug 2.
