NixOS 21.11 ‘Porcupine’ Released! Here’s What’s New

A new NixOS version 21.11 codename Porcupine is now available to download, and it brings lots of changes, new features, and improvements over version 21.05. In this article, let’s look at what’s new in NixOS 21.11.

The following apps have been updated to their latest versions.

  • PHP 7.4 -> 8.0
  • Python3 3.8 -> 3.9
  • Postgres V13
  • Spark 2 -> 3
  • Hadoop modules and their versions have been updated.
  • Improved LXD support
  • OpenSSH updated to 8.8p1
  • Pantheon Desktop has been updated to Version 6.
  • GNOME updated to 41.
