Microsoft just revealed their next-generation Xbox at the Game Awards 2019 and it will be called the Xbox Series X.
Xbox CEO, Phil Spencer, came up on stage to reveal the new console along with its game- Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.
Also revealed at the Game Awards is the first PS5 game: Godfall. We got to see the first look at the characters of the game and what it’s about.
Here’s everything you need to know about Microsoft Next-gen Xbox console and the first PS5 game.
Next-Gen Xbox Series X And First PS5 Game Revealed
The Xbox Series X reveals a couple of important details about Microsoft’s next-gen console. First is its name, notice how the console is called ‘Series X’ indicating that there could be more than one console in this series.
Earlier reports said that Microsoft would release two next-gen consoles codenamed, ‘Lockhart’ and ‘Anaconda’, the former would be a base level next-gen console while the latter would be a more powerful version of the same.
The rumors quickly died when The Project Scarlett was revealed during E3. However, these rumors started to resurface recently and after the reveal of Xbox Series X, which is the more powerful ‘Anaconda’ console, it seems like we will be getting a base next-gen console after all.
The next-gen Xbox Series X looks like a mini ‘ITX build’, which is a great thing because now the console wouldn’t struggle to keep the internals cool while running.
It is the most unconventional and ‘PC-inspired’ design yet of any console, and I think that’s a great thing in delivering high gaming performance.
The pricing, specs, and details of this console haven’t been released but a new game for the platform was revealed. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is the new game from Xbox owned Ninja Theory studio.
Hellblade II is a sequel to the award-winning Senua’s Hellblade Sacrifice. Which was first released on PS4 as an exclusive and now it’s first going to release first on Xbox. Is this a hint of tables turning on Sony?
Well, not so fast, because Sony matched Microsoft’s intense reveal by announcing its first PS5 exclusive, Godfall. Sony released the game’s first look trailer. The game is from Gearbox publishing in collaboration with Counterplay Games.
The game’s description says it will be a third-person fantasy looter-slasher, a genre for which Gearbox is known, with a focus on Melee combat. So I think Borderlands series minus guns and a lot of combo attacks, I am already loving the sound of that, to be honest.
It will feature Co-op play with up to 3 players and has a release date somewhere in 2020, probably around the same time as the PS5 launches during the holidays.
What are you more excited about? Xbox Series X? Do you love the design or do you hate it? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
