After the incredible success of the Witcher games, CD Projekt Red has decided to develop a new Witcher game after the release of Cyberpunk 2077 in September this year.
If there’s one game that made gamers cry, then it was ‘The Witcher 3.’ Ever since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, fans have been desperate for the fourth installation of The Witcher series.
However, Adam KiciÅ„ski, the president of CD Projekt Red, confirmed that there would not be a Witcher 4, no matter how much we want it. But that doesn’t mean we won’t be going back to the Witcher universe.
Reportedly, the studio resourced a small team of game developers for the development of a new Witcher game with “a fresh concept.” The game won’t be a sequel to the Witcher 3, but it will be “embedded” in the franchise.
On the other hand, a large number of game developers in the studio are still busy with the development of Cyberpunk 2077.
Kiciński made it pretty clear that as soon as the Cyberpunk 2077 comes out, the studio will direct the majority of its resources towards the new Witcher title. Also, he stated that almost every title that is currently planned by the studio only revolves around the Witcher or the Cyberpunk universe.
In fact, it’s safe to say the studio will develop the Witcher game for next-gen consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X. That is because the development of the game will start around the time when PlayStation 5 launches.
