A few days ago, Xiaomi developer’s team announced that it has stopped working on MIUI 11 beta ROMs, indicating that it has shifted its focus to developing MIUI 12.
Xiaomi launched MIUI 11 back in October 2019. Meanwhile, the Android-based MIUI 11 is still under the roll-out stage. So, we can’t expect MIUI 12 to launch any time soon.
Moreover, there is no concrete information on MIUI 12, except its official logo, which the company announced back in January. Nonetheless, there have been hundreds of rumors revolving around the next MIUI update.
Now, an MIUI community user has shared a bunch of screenshots revealing the upcoming features of MIUI 12. The expected MIUI 12 features are based on the current UI of the MIUI 11, feedback from beta testers, and communication between developers and users.
MIUI 12 Features: What To Expect?
First and foremost, the screenshots show new animations and gestures that resemble the UI changes in Android 10. There appears to be a long thin bar at the bottom. Swiping left and right will allow the user to switch between the apps.
Moreover, a swipe up can be seen opening up the Recent Apps window, again similar to what we see in Google Pixel devices. We also see a new multitasking animation and a new opening apps animation.
Apart from this, the Mi community user predicts a few features that we would likely see in MIUI 12. One significant change to expect in MIUI 12 is an overhauled camera app UI, since more and more Xiaomi phones are going for high-end camera frameworks. We can also expect new application icons and the System health service will be a significant area of focus in MIUI 12 for Xiaomi.
Other notable changes based on the beta versions will be a global inversion dark mode, a notification box mechanism to intelligently group notifications. Again, there is no guarantee that these features will land on the final version of MIUI 12. We will have more information on MIUI 12 in the coming days.
