Short Bytes: A crazy and strange bypass has been discovered for the iPhone lock screen. The bug can be used to access the photos stored on an iPhone running iOS 10.2 to 8.0. The hack also works for iPad. It can be exploited with the help of Siri.

Some curious minds have discovered a weird trick which can bypass an iPhone lock screen and access the photos stored on the device.

YouTube channel iDeviceHelp has published a video described a working implementation of the method on an iPhone 7 Plus running the iOS 10.2.

The iPhone lock screen bypass works by taking advantage of the Siri voice assistant and the voice over feature. The method won’t work if Siri is not enabled while the device is locked. Also, you need physical access to the target iPhone.

Here is the iDeviceHelp video:

iDeviceHelp has told Apple about the bug and it’s expected to get fixed in the coming days. For the time being, you can turn off Siri’s abilities to work on the lock screen.

Another YouTube channel EverythingApplePro claims that the iPhone bypass works on any model running iOS 10.2 all the way down to iOS 8.0. It also works for other iOS devices like the iPads.
