While the new iPhones have already leaked and Apple is having a hard time curbing the leaks, the company’s current iPhone 8 is facing some serious issues.
On its official site, Apple has issued a warning that some models of iPhone 8 have logic boards with a defect. As a result, these phones might face issues like frozen screen, restarts, or they won’t turn on at all.
“Apple has determined that a very small percentage of iPhone 8 devices contain logic boards with a manufacturing defect,” the company said. iPhone 8 Plus and other models remain unaffected.
What if my iPhone 8 affected by the issue?
You only need to be worried if you bought the device between September 2017 and March 2018 in India, the U.S., Japan, Macau, Hong Kong, China, and Australia.
What you need to do is visit this link and enter your iPhone 8’s serial number. If your phone turns out to be defective, Apple will repair it for free.
After checking the defect, you have to find an Apple authorized service provider or make an appointment at an Apple retail store for the repair. You can also contact Apple Support for mail-in repair service.
It’s worth noting that Apple won’t entertain your device if it already has some damage, like a cracked screen. In such cases, you need to resolve the issue and then get the logic board fixed.
