Short Bytes: Intel Corp. has announced its Sixth Generation Intel Skylake processors that will improve the performance and battery life of computers. Intel is calling them their best processors ever that will give rise to thinner and more powerful devices.

The majority of computers in use are about four to five years old and these vintage systems are becoming slower. These slow processors with low battery life can’t take advantage of the modern day experiences. To solve these issues, built on the new Skylake architecture, Intel has announced its sixth generation of processors. Skylake is based on Intel’s leading 14nm manufacturing process technology as a part of Broadwell.

Intel’s “sixth generation” processors, codenamed Skylake, have been making rounds of headlines from some time. These processors will power a whole new generation of thinner mobile devices and PCs. These processors are efficient, fast, and provide better battery life.

The Intel corporation is calling them their best processors ever by making the processor optimized to deliver performance at the lowest power levels and broadest range of device designs.

6th Generation Intel Core processors are here for providing an improved performance, security and battery life, Intel says. Skylake processors also bring to you the power to wake up your PC with your voice. With new Windows 10 OS, PC users can call Cortana to wake up their PCs.

Intel says: “The combination of 6th Gen Intel Core processors, Windows 10 and beautiful new systems from PC manufacturers make this the best time ever to buy a new computer.”

Apart from improved performance, Intel Skylake processors can power a wide range of devices and deliver better performance. The new Intel Core M chips made for lightweight PCs are improved to power Intel Computer Stick and Apple’s new MacBook. The first generation Core M processors were a disappointment, but the new chips offer 40 percent better graphics and 10 hours of battery life.

Mentioned on Intel’s blog, Intel Skylake processors offer an unlocked version of its M chip for the first time along with overclocking support.

Other features include support for Thunderbolt 3 for USB Type-C, True Key technology by Intel Security, and Intel RealSense Camera for new depth-sensing capabilities to take 3D-like selfies.
