iFixit, in their recent video, ranked Mac Pro 2019 as one of the best repairable devices. However, Fairphone 3 takes the top spot for being the easiest device to fix in 2019.
iFixit is best known to teardown some of the most popular devices to find out how easy they are to repair. And here are the results of the latest iFixit teardown:
- Fairphone 3 (10/10)
- Mac Pro 2019 (9/10)
- Xbox One S All Digital Edition (8/10)
- Samsung Galaxy Fold (2/10)
- MacBook Pro 16″ 2019 (1/10)
- Apple AirPods Pro (0/10)
Fairphone 3 And Mac Pro 2019 Are Best Devices To Repair
It’s no surprise that Fairphone 3 is the best device of 2019 based on the repairability as it grabbed the top spot even in iFixit’s 2018 ranking for device repairability.
The Fairphone 3 is super easy to repair because the phone’s battery and screen can be easily removed by using a Philip screwdriver. Also, what makes the assembling even easier is the fact that there are assembling instructions inside the phone.
Mac Pro 2019 also could’ve scored 10/10 to go toe-to-toe with Fairphone 3. However, iFixit’s team couldn’t possibly grade cheese from Mac Pro’s three-dimensional interlocking hemispheres on the sides. But other than that, Mac Pro 2019 was incredibly easy to disassemble and assemble. For instance, in order to open it up, you just have to turn and lift the top handle.
The Xbox One S All Digital Edition “rightfully” ranks third in iFixit’s ranking. The device is surprisingly easy to repair once you’re inside it and requires only a few tools. On the downside, getting inside of the device is a fairly time-consuming task.

iFixit Ranks Apple AirPods Pro The Worst Device To Repair
The Apple AirPods Pro received a score of 0/10, which is extremely disappointing. The whole device is glued to the extent that you can’t possibly repair it without breaking.
Samsung Galaxy Fold scored only 2/10 as it raises a lot of concerns when it comes to repairability. Firstly, you have to remove the glass panel to get inside the phone, which is a considerable risk to take. Apart from that, the glued-in battery and the fold that puts stress in the hinges, drop down the ranking of the device insanely low.
Then we have the 16-inch Macbook Pro with a butterfly keyboard. The device is way too challenging to repair because of the glued parts inside it. Maybe Apple completely forgot the repairability aspect while making the device. That is why iFixit gave it only 1 score out of 10.
