htc-watch-petra-android-ios-HTC’s first smartwatch could be really smart and very ahead of its rivals. HTC is reported to go with its very own platform called “RTOS.” This was reported by the reputed Upleaks couple of days ago.

The device is rumored to be called “Petra” and HTC is expected to launch its first wearable on the March 1 at in Barcelona where it will be launching its new flagship HTC One M9 smartphone. It should be noted that Samsung too is gearing up for it Galaxy S6 launch event on the very same day and it’s possible that Samsung too could show off a new wearable.

HTC smartwatch may work both on Android and iOS smartphones.

HTC Petra will work with Android 4.4 and above plus the iOS 7.0 and above. It will be available in three sizes with 1.8” 32×160 PMOLED flexible display. It will be weighing as light as 23g and its battery will run for more than 3 days which will be charged via USB or POGO pin.

Other basic features of HTC Smartwatch include camera shutter control, music control, alarm, timer, stopwatch, sleep and sports analysis, weather, and you can interact with phone’s notifications. You’ll be free to select the color from these options: Teal/Lime, Black/Blue, and Gray.

Earlier it was confirmed that HTC is partnering with the US fitness brand Under Armour and both of these companies expect the HTC Petra to help athletes to take their performance to the another level in a more coherent and intuitive way than ever.

In the past, different companies have “experimented” with the wearable tech and my personal favorite is Motorola’s Moto 360. The Apple Watch too is going to make a debut soon this year.

Can Apple lead the way or it’s going to be any other company, maybe HTC Petra? The answer lies in the near future.
