Netflix, one of the most famous online streaming platforms, has launched a new feature that will allow users to lock their individual profiles with a PIN. The company has also launched new parental control features that will allow the users to filter the content for their kids. Users will get complete liberty to remove entire titles from Netflix as per their preference.
The new feature to protect your Netflix profile with a PIN will be helpful for those who share their subscription with friends and families and don’t want others to poke into their profile.
How To Lock Your Netflix Profile With A PIN?
- Log-in to your Netflix via a browser
- Tap on the account details section in the upper right corner of the screen
- Tap on ‘Account’ and then open the ‘Profiles and Parental Controls’ section
- You will see an option to set up a pin for your account
- Once you set the pin, no one can access your account without entering the PIN
As mentioned by TechCrunch, Netflix Kids’ product manager, Michelle Persons, said that choice and control are very necessary for parents.
He concluded his statement by saying that the company hopes its additional controls will help the parents in deciding and showing the right content for their kids.
The most important addition in the parental control feature is the ability to remove a title completely. For example, if a user marks a web series like Game Of Thrones as inappropriate, it will not appear on that particular account. The parental control feature will be available for both the general section and the kids section of Netflix.

Users can also set a filter based on the General Audience rating or the G-rating. Under the G-rating filter, the titles of movies and web series get filtered on the basis of maturity rating in a particular country.
Other Major Updates
Other major updates to parental control feature of Netflix includes disabling autoplay on TV shows in kids’ profile to restrict watch time, review viewing history of a child account so that you can keep a check on what your child is watching.
