All petrol heads and those who grew up watching fast and furious hold a soft corner for the Toyota Supra in their heart. Also, every automotive enthusiast would love to modify their car for a drag race if given a chance.

Well, there are a few things you can do in your car without even spending any hard cash from your pocket. However, it might take up a bit of time and patience.

To demonstrate the process, a YouTube channel Tj Hunt recorded this video of their Toyota Supra.

Here’s everything you need to know about the utmost you can do with the least effort and money to set up your car for a drag race.

Toyota Supra Drag Setup: What The Owner Did?

Adjusting The Suspension System:

Aerodynamics and drag play a very crucial role in drag races, therefore the first thing the YouTuber did was work on the suspension. To reduce the drag, the guy lowered down the front suspension system and moved up the rear suspension a bit.

How much the suspension needs to be adjusted depends on your car design, wheel size, tires, and various other factors.

In this case, the owner lowers the front suspension by one and a quarter inch and raise up the rear suspension by one inch.

Fenders Rubbing:

Unfortunately, the geometry was not feasible. During the test drive, both the front and rear tires were rubbing against the fenders.

After the testing, the guy decided to raise both the suspensions a bit. In addition to this, the fenders were rubbed from inside using the rollers in order to avoid contact between the tires and the fenders.

One thing to keep in mind is to be a bit careful while doing it as it can affect the paint of your car.

Stiffen Up The Rear Dampers:

Whenever the car is under load, the tendency for tires to touch rear bumpers increases. The car squats more at the rear side compared to the front. Increasing the stiffness of dampers serves as an anti-squat for your drag-oriented car.

Making these slight mods is not going to cost you a hefty amount. Instead, it can improve the performance of your car.

Apart from the modifications done on this Toyota Supra, one can also add a rear spoiler, front fenders to have better aerodynamics.

Also, weight reduction, engine tuning, exhaust system, wheels, and tires all together contribute to improving your car acceleration and performance in quarter-mile and full track races.
