Honor just announced its first foldable smartphone, the Honor Magic V. This is another addition to the long list of companies that have started to sell foldable smartphones following Samsung. The smartphone’s form factor is similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold devices.

The Honor Magic V has a large internal folding display and a smaller external display. The company has launched a foldable smartphone for the Chinese market. It is priced at ¥9,999 (around $1,569) for its 256GB storage model.

The product is expected to go on sale on January 18th. However, there is still no word on its global release.

Specifications

The Honor Magic V foldable screen is 7.9 inches long diagonally. It has a resolution of 2272 x 1984 with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The cover display is 6.45 inches long with a resolution of 2560 x 1080 and a 120Hz refresh rate. Both screens are slightly bigger than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3.

The smartphone is running Qualcomm’s latest chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It has a 4,750mAh battery that can be charged at up to 66W. Honor claims that the smartphone can be charged up to 50% in 15 minutes.

In terms of cameras, it has triple 50MP sensors on the rear end and two 42MP sensors on the inner and outer display. The main camera has an ultrawide sensor, and something Honor is calling a “spectrum enhanced camera.”

Honor Magic V seems to be better than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 in every significant category based on the specs. You can take a look at the specs yourself.
