A Maruti Suzuki Ignis owner has measured the real-world mileage of his car using the tank-to-tank method. Mr. Yetnesh Dubey, the owner of Maruti Suzuki Ignis BS6 who is also an Auto Journalist by profession, uploaded this mileage test video to his YouTube channel. The guy recently bought 2020 BS6 compliant Ignis Delta Petrol and has been creating informative content on the same.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis is a hatchback with a touch of an SUV. Ignis was first launched in India back in 2016. However, the car was not very popular back then until the company brought its facelift version in 2020. In addition to the facelift attribute, the car got quite an upgrade including the steering return feature which was not available in the old Ignis.

With the improvement in Ignis, its popularity is increasing day by day and people are flocking to NEXA showroom to buy it. For the same reason, the masses are always curious to know about the mileage of this micro SUV. So, here is the detailed mileage test of the 2020 Suzuki Ignis.

As mentioned above, the owner used the tank-to-tank method for calculating the fuel-efficiency. This method is used as one of the most accurate and easy to use methods in calculating mileage.

Before starting the trip, the owner filled the fuel-tank of Ignis up to the highest mark. After that, he set the reading of the trip meter of his car to zero. The car traveled on pretty much all types of roads.

After traveling for 38.3 km he went back to the same petrol pump and got a refill. As it turns out, the car consumed 1.77-liters of petrol for traveling 38.3 km.

Upon calculating it, the 2020 Maruti Suzuki Ignis BS6 churned out a combined mileage of 21.6 km/l, which is even greater than the claimed mileage. According to the automaker, Ignis has a fuel-economy of 20.89 km/l.

Usually, the real-world mileage of any car is lower than the claimed one. However, it seems to be quite the opposite with Ignis as it turns out to be more efficient than what the company claims.

In addition, it would not be a surprise if the car achieves even more mileage while driving solely on the highway.

Is It More Fuel-Efficient Than Swift And Baleno?

As per the official website of Maruti Suzuki, Swift has a fuel-efficiency of 21.21 km/l on both manual and automatic transmission. On the other hand, Suzuki Baleno provides a mileage of 21.01 on manual and 19.56 with automatic transmission (CVT).

Meanwhile, the real-world fuel-economy of 21.6 km/l Maruti Ignis is greater than both its cousins. In terms of figure, Ignis seems to lead here, however, it would have been better if the owner had traveled around 100 or 150 km.

Anyway, the test is sufficient enough to give an idea of real-world mileage of Ignis.
