Blowing the dust off my memories, I can recall Microsoft flaunting a dual-screen PC at its 2019 Surface Event. Unfortunately, Surface Neo couldn’t get past promo videos and onto our hands in reality.
The company event silently killed the plans to launch the device and removed all the relevant web pages from its website. The Windows 10X OS that was meant to power the Neo was eventually called off due to the lack of finish and usability that was required.
It’s 2021 and we are getting a glimpse of a real Surface Neo prototype, thanks to the popular leaskter Max Weinbach of Android Authority. He posted some pictures on his Twitter handle that show the dual-screen Neo in its full glory (but without the screen).

You can take a peek at the internals, clearly labeling it as a prototype device not meant for sale. Then there is an image showing the familiar outer body of the Surface Neo.
Nonetheless, it is a trip down memory lane. And most of us are well aware that Windows 10X isn’t going to come (if ever) anytime soon. Or maybe, it was a bit early for an appetite of such device form factor.
But we are also hearing rumors of a Windows 11 SE in the making, and fingers crossed if it finally makes it to the Surface Neo in the future. Remember, Microsoft never canceled Neo officially.
