Seeing the images created by Pat Hines saved me the effort of making my morning coffee when I realized that he created them using Microsoft Paint. After 10 years of hard work, he was able to design these breathtaking illustrations for his e-book about a summer camp set in the 1980s.

“I suck at Photoshop and other programs, and have worked exclusively in Microsoft Paint for over ten years… I honed my craft working long overnights at a hospital reception desk…,” writes Hines.

Spotted by BoredPanda, Hines details step-by-step process of making such illustrations on his DevianArt page. It would be difficult for many people to trust the fact that he isn’t using some other software behind the scenes. Alternatively, he suggests people download these images and zoom in.

His self-published e-book Camp “Redblood and The Essential Revenge”, comprising of 8 illustrations, is a story about a man who thinks running a summer camp would be an easy task. The story is filled with haunted woods, gruesome monsters, treacherous trails, scary railway tunnels, and more.
