Using exploits in online games is something that is never appreciated by game developers. However, Rockstar Games is taking some intense action against players who took advantage of ‘Casino Chip Glitch’ in GTA Online.
It’s common for GTA Online players to use money glitches in the game to earn in-game currency. As a punishment, Rockstar used to take away all the in-game currency from such players’ accounts. But this time, the studio is resetting the entire GTA Online accounts of players.
According to a Rockstar Games insider, Tez 2, Rockstar is wiping all the data from players’ accounts who are using the latest money glitch. So, everything like cash, characters, progress, and inventories will be just taken away by Rockstar.
“Rockstar Games is in the process of resetting GTA Online characters, progress, and inventory of all the players who have done the casino chip glitch, also known as the latest money glitch. Not a money wipe, a complete reset,” said Tez2 on Twitter.
It is definitely a severe punishment for players who earn in-game money by unfair means. However, some lucky players are only getting their cash taken away, instead of getting their accounts to reset.
As of now, it’s not clear why Rockstar is wiping the accounts of some players while some players are getting away with easy punishment. Maybe, the penalty is based on an account’s history of abuse and infractions.
Nevertheless, it’s interesting to see that Rockstar is setting an example for other game developers by taking drastic actions against cheaters in GTA Online.
