Rockstar Games’ most popular title, Grand Theft Auto 5, is a game that every gaming enthusiast has explored. However, playing GTA 5 in VR is just pure bliss, and we’ve been waiting to experience that for so long. Well, the long wait has finally come to an end.
Reddit user LukeRoss00, who has worked on GTA 5 VR mod in the past, has recently released the latest version of his GTA 5 VR mod – R.E.A.LÂ on GitHub.
This fourth release of R.E.A.L is a massive improvement over past versions of the GTA V mod.Â
First of all, you can change the graphics settings while you’re in the game. There’s no longer the need to relaunch the game to change the settings, which is a big relief.
Also, if your machine is powerful enough, then you can now enable Multisample anti-aliasing (MSAA) for insane graphics quality. You’d also be delighted to know that the mod also features added support for Graphical GTA 5 mods like NaturalVision Remastered, VisualV, GTA 5 Redux, and M.V.G.A.Â
The main highlight of this GTA V mod is the universal FOV fix. This fix makes it possible for you to experience GTA 5 in VR during cutscenes, scripted animations, and while aiming your weapon. So, by allowing you to experience the entire game in VR, this mod is perfection in its own right.
How To Play GTA 5 In VR Using R.E.A.L Mod?
The setup process with the fourth release of the VR mod is much easier as compared to the hectic installation process with previous versions. Although, you do have to install the game from scratch with no other mods.Â
After reinstalling, boot the game normally before installing the mod. Then, you’re required to make the following adjustments to the game settings:
Settings> Gamepad> Targeting Mode: Free Aim
Settings> Camera> Allow Independent Camera Modes: Off
Settings> Camera> First Person Head Bobbing: Off
Settings> Camera> First Person Third Person Cover: On
Settings> Camera> First Person Vehicle Hood: Off
Now, you have to extract the downloaded R.E.A.L file in the folder where the GTA5.exe file is located. If you have any previous version of the R.E.A.L installed, then proceed with the overwrite option. You have to uninstall any previous version of the VR mod anyway to make the latest version work.
If you’re using the Steam version of GTA 5, then it’s recommended that you uncheck the “Use Desktop Game Theatre while SteamVR is active” option in the game properties page.
Finally, run the Batch file(RealConfig.bat) created by the mod in your main game folder. In the prompt window, you can choose between High, Medium, and Low settings based on the CPU and graphics card on your machine.
Now, just set your Windows default audio device to VR headset and enjoy GTA 5 in VR.
If for some reason, you are having some trouble running the R.E.A.L mod, then I would suggest that you refer to the README by LukeRoss00 to get detailed instructions about the mod.Â
