Just like you don’t have many options other than iPad when it comes to choosing a tablet for daily computing tasks, you don’t have tons of great choices when it comes to smartwatches. With Apple Watch, Cupertino has been able to establish itself as a solid choice in the wearable market.
On the other hand, Google’s Wear OS, previously called Android Wear, doesn’t appear to be anything more than a side project from Google. However, things might change at the next Google hardware event with the new Pixel Watch.
What we know about Pixel Watch
This latest news has come from Evan Blass, who’s well-known for his leaks. The Pixel Watch will arrive alongside Pixel Buds 2 and the next generation Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones.
Design
Besides the Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, and second-gen Pixel Buds, a reliable source tells me — with high confidence — that Google's fall hardware event will also introduce a Pixel-branded watch. Have a great summer!

When it comes to designs, at the moment, it’s hard to guess what Google’s flagship Wear OS device might look like. I’m expecting the device to sport a round form factor and a little smaller size than what other OEMs are creating. In case Google manages to make it thinner, that’d be another plus point.
Processor
Previously, Qualcomm has confirmed that it’s working on a new chipset that can power top-end smartwatches. It has also been confirmed that the new chipset will appear in a device before the year ends. So, it makes the perfect sense for Google to grab the same for its own offering.
Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform will feature a quad-core CPU architecture. It’ll also sport a new power management solution. We’re also expecting the watch to arrive in both LTE and WiFi versions.
Versions
German new site WinFuture has reported that instead of just one model, Google is working on three Google-branded smartwatches. Codenamed Ling, Triton, and Sardine, these watches have reached the second level of device verification stage where they’re being tested if the designs are ready for mass production.
Release date
We can expect them to be announced somewhat around October this year.
Those were all the updates we’re having on Google’s Pixel Watch. In case we’ll be having some more updates, we’ll be updating this story.
