However, at Frankfurt’s IAA motor show, Google’s managing director for central and Eastern Europe said that Google has no interest in becoming a carmaker.
He said,”That is not something we could do alone. Google also does not intend to become a car manufacturer.” According to Philipp Justus, Google has no intentions in joining the other companies of the car industry to build its own lineup of cars.
Instead, the car company is looking to collaborate with the other car makers.
Earlier, Google car rumors got some concrete ground when the internet company hired John Krafcik as the first ever CEO for its autonomous car project. Google said that experience of John Krafcik in the auto industry will bring valuable inputs to the company.

“This technology can save thousands of lives, give millions of people greater mobility, and free us from a lot of the things we find frustrating about driving today. I can’t wait to get started,” said Krafcik.
So what does it mean? Why is Google testing its self-driving cars and spending million?
From the past experience, we know that Google is amazing when it comes to inventing new software and new technologies, but making hardware hasn’t been its strong point. It seems that Google will follow the Android route where it’ll be selling its software to the car makers.
Instead of a competitor, it looks as if Google wants to become car manufacturers’ potential friend. Something bigger?
