Building on top of its Discover section, the search giant has added a new food delivery option to Google Maps. It also integrated the same with Search and Google Assistant.
In case you’re wondering — no, Google is not entering the food delivery market, yet. The new feature just allows users to place an order directly from Maps or Search. It lists popular food delivery services like Delivery.com, ChowNow, DoorDash. So, it’s similar to how Google Flights works.
If you want to go hands-free, then you also command Google Assistant to reorder the usual from your favorite restaurant. Like, “Hey Google, re-order the food from Restaurant X.” Then, you need to select one of your past orders and make payment using Google Pay.
You can see all the food options and prices up front. It also provides both delivery and pickup options so you can grab your food while commuting to work.
For now, the new food delivery option is available in select US cities on both Android and iOS devices. Maybe, in the coming future, it will land in other parts of the world.
