Short Bytes: Soon, you will be able to wake your Windows 10 machine from Modern Standby mode by just saying Hey Cortana. Intel is working with Microsoft to enhance Cortana’s capabilities so that she could work when the machine in a low power sleep mode.

Microsoft and Intel are like made for each other companies. Their OS + CPU combination has reached every corner of the world where the name computer is familiar to the people.

In a recent blog post, Intel’s SVP of the Client Computing Group Navin Shenoy has elaborated the future prospects the two companies have been working on. Speech recognition and voice activation is a major part of the collaborative efforts Intel is making with Microsoft.

The voice assistant Cortana might be good but it has some limitations – she can only work when your Windows 10 PC is awake. Shenoy gave an idea of what could be the future of Cortana and its use to control computers running Windows 10. He said the future computers would allow Cortana to wake them up from Modern Standby mode. So, you say “Hey Cortana” and your computer would wake up.

Modern Standby (MS) is Microsoft’s effort to enable S0 low power state on machines (with capable hardware) running Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile operating systems.
