Mozilla has been testing a VPN service for a long time. Now, the Firefox web browser-maker is finally ready to release an Android app for the same. With that said Firefox Private Network VPN app joins the pack of other freshly launched VPN apps including SpeedTest VPN and Cloudflare VPN.
As Android Police reports, Mozilla has listed the Firefox Private Network VPN app on Google’s Play Store. The listing mentions the app as a “fast, secure, and easy-to-use VPN you can trust built by Mozilla.”
However, the Android app is in beta stage, and users who have opted for early testing of Firefox’s VPN service can only download the app. You can join the waiting list from here.
Firefox’s Private Network VPN
Mozilla initially started with a VPN as an extension of the Firefox web-browser. After much testing, the company launched a full-blown VPN application for Windows, Chromebook users, and now Android. The company plans to bring support to iOS, Mac and Linux as well
Firefox is offering a “limited-time beta pricing of $4.99/month” for VPN service. Currently, both the browser extension and the full-device VPN are only available in the United States. Sadly, no free tier is offered at the moment which might be a disappointment for many users.
What’s unique about Firefox Private Network?
Firefox VPN service is based on the WireGuard standard, which enables it to offer faster network speeds along with secure encryption.
