Installing Arch Linux may not be challenging for experienced Linux users but it is definitely a difficult task for a beginner. So, if you still want to use Arch Linux or a system close to it with an easy-to-install feature, you must check out new Arch-based EndeavourOS.

With its first stable version released on July 15th, 2019, EndeavourOS comes with a friendly GUI-based offline and online installer. It offers the easiest method to set up a system in a headache-free and swift manner. Moving forward, EndeavourOS has released a new version with several new enhancements and improvements. So, let’s take a look at the list of new features.

EndeavourOS 2020.4.11: What’s New?

One of the major new features that the new ISO version includes is a Universal ISO boot. If you’re using open-source drivers or NVIDIA proprietary drivers, you can now boot your system with dedicated graphics cards.

Since EndeavourOS offers a GUI-based offline and online installer, the latest version improves the look and feel of the offline Calamares installer. The main theme color of the installer changes from purple to blue with more details along the way.

Like Ubiquity in Ubuntu, Calamares now also has a terminal window in the background to display the progress of the installation.

Furthermore, the welcome app supports several languages other than English such as Spanish, German, Russian and French. Lastly, the installer performs a cleaning up of unnecessary drivers for light experience in the first boot.

Among the software, a new version ships new built-in applications. To name a few, Pahis shows the package history in the terminal and Eos-log-tool to create a log file for a bug report.

Here are the highlights of other new changes:

  • LUKS encryption in the installer
  • Vanilla Theme Desktop Environments in net-installer
  • Linux Kernel 5.6.3-arch1-1
  • Mesa 20.04.-1
  • Firefox 75.0-1 Arch
