In a recent interview, he hinted at the possibility of an electric jet that would take off and land vertically. “I think I have something that might close. I’m quite tempted to do something about it,” he added.
So, what is the next target in Elon Musk road plan? Recently, answering a Q&A session at the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Award Ceremony, Musk talked about developing an electric airplane that would be having the capability to take off and land vertically. He said that he has been thinking about it for a while now and it seems that he’s ready to get started with his “next big” project.
Notably, last year Musk talked about the idea and said that he couldn’t pursue it because he didn’t have a lot of free time on his hands. He said that these days he has been thinking about it “a bit more”. “I think I have something that might close. I’m quite tempted to do something about it,” he added.
While he didn’t discuss more details about the project, the crowd responded enthusiastically.
Earlier in October, he said that he had a design ready. “I do like the idea of an electric aircraft company,” Musk explained. “I think one could do a pretty cool supersonic, vertical, take-off and landing electric jet. That would be really fun. I have a design in mind for that.”
If talk about any tentative date when Elon Musk could start working on the electric jet project, it doesn’t seem happening anytime soon. He’s having a lot on his plate at the moment in the form of Tesla, SpaceX, and Powerwall.
