After the cancellation of Luke Cage and Iron Fist, Netflix and Marvel have decided to say goodbye to Daredevil as well; it was the show that launched Marvel universe on the widely popular video streaming platform.

“Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix,” Netflix confirmed in a statement given to Deadline. The company said that they’re proud of the show’s last season and are thankful to their partners at Marvel.

This news has come as a surprise to fans of the superhero drama as it has been able to consistently garner positive reviews throughout its journey of three seasons.

It’s worth noting that Netflix has said the Daredevil character will live in future Marvel projects. It means that there are chances that you might happen to find him in a couple of upcoming episodes of Jessica Jones or The Punisher.

The timing of this cancellation is also crucial as Marvel’s owner Disney is gearing up for the launch of its own video streaming service Disney+, which is expected to arrive in 2019. It’s also possible that Disney might respawn these superheroes and launch them on its own service.
