Coronavirus, which originated from Wuhan, China, is affecting the entire world, and that includes all the tech giants.

Nintendo Switch recently announced that shipments for its flagship switch console, including the Animal Crossing: New Horizon edition, will be delayed in Japan.

For the Japanese market, Nintendo gets its hardware directly from China. Therefore, Japanese gamers will be deprived of everything, including console accessories, games as well as Switch models.

A Nintendo spokesperson told Digital Trends –

We can confirm that the manufacturing of some Nintendo products for the Japanese market has been delayed due to the impact of 2019-nCoV coronavirus outbreak

What makes it worse for Nintendo is that this delay is happening around the time the company was teasing its Animal Crossing: New Horizon edition.

In a statement, Nintendo also expressed its concern and support for everyone affected by the deadly Coronavirus. The company confirmed that only the Japanese market would suffer from this delay.

The shipment for the global market, including North America and Europe, will not be affected.

Interestingly, Nintendo has just teamed up with Tencent to sell its consoles in China. If the production of Nintendo Switch also affects China, it would be a significant blow to the company.

However, the company hasn’t confirmed if the Chinese gamers will suffer the same fate as their Japanese brothers.

“The situation differs by country based on various production and supply chain factors. We have nothing more to announce,” said Nintendo.

Nintendo isn’t the first company to be affected by Coronavirus. There have been speculations that the production of Apple products could also be disrupted due to the coronavirus outbreak.
