The Riverside Police Department recently shared footage of a burglary recorded through Tesla Sentry Mode on its Facebook page.

The incident took place on 9th May 2020 when a Tesla owner parked her car in a parking lot. A while after parking her Tesla, the owner received a notification on her cell phone indicating something had happened with her vehicle.

It turns out that someone had tried to break into her parked Tesla Model 3, however, the footage of the entire incident was being recorded.

In the video, we can see that the thief parked his car near the Tesla. He peeped into another vehicle before finally breaking the window glass of the Model 3. After that, he took the purse from the car and left the place.

Nevertheless, thanks to the Tesla Sentry Mode the entire robbery was recorded and the police easily identified the robber. Sentry mode is a very smart and useful tool that Tesla has integrated into its electric cars.

It’s a kind of surveillance tool that guards your vehicle when you are not around.

In our previous articles, we covered Sentry Mode in detail. Additionally, we saw that the battery of the stationary Tesla Model 3 battery can last for almost nine days in Sentry Mode.

What If There was No Tesla Sentry Mode?

The police department deliberately released the video to spread awareness among the citizens. The thief broke into the car after looking at the purse that was visible.

Additionally, we can clearly see in the video how fast the thief was at his job. Breaking a window is not a very difficult task, but the burglar did as if he was breaking a house of cards. Luckily the thief was captured by the cameras of Tesla.

However, if there were no cameras or if there was no Tesla Sentry Mode in the Model 3. Then, will the police be able to identify the thief? I am sure they would have, but it saved everyone a lot of time.

Therefore, police suggested everyone keep their belongings or valuable items at home or at least hidden somewhere so that they would not be visible from the outside.

Additionally, people close doors and windows and take all necessary precautions after parking their car.
