Microsoft Windows owns the lion’s share in the operating system market, but at the same time, we cannot deny the presence of Linux. The fact that Linux Ubuntu powers Netflix, Snapchat, Dropbox, Uber, Tesla, and International Space Station is enough to prove the might of the opensource kernel.
To further emphasize and promote the presence of Linux Ubuntu, Canonical has released an infographic showing how Ubuntu connects everything.
The official blog of Ubuntu said that “As users aren’t required to register their installation, devices are pre-loaded with the software and servers powered by Ubuntu – this means it’s not as easy to track users. However, the reality is, hundreds of millions of  PCs, servers, devices, virtual machines, and containers have booted Ubuntu to date and are in use!”
The infographic charts a timeline which depicts the gradual rise of Ubuntu and how it has made its presence felt in IOT. The open source distribution spans the products and services used in daily life, social media platforms and it also powers the largest supercomputer.
The infographic is an updated version of a previously released infographic in 2016. The visual diagram has been released to celebrate the upcoming 16.04 LTS.
