Seemingly, the most notable feature of Google Pixel 3 is not working for many users, as reported onĀ Reddit and Google forums.

Google Pixel 3 owners, trying to open the camera app are facing errors likeĀ “could not connect to the camera,” “camera encountered a fatal error,” or “The camera encountered a fatal error.” Third-party apps like Instagram and Snapchat, that require Pixel 3 camera access, are also showing the same errors.

Many have noticed that rebooting the device fixes the issue, but only temporarily. Once a third party app is opened, the camera app arrives with the same issue, until a reboot is performed.

Moreover, people who tried factory resetting the device or running the device in Safe Mode confirmed that the issue didn’t go away. According to Charged, the Camera bug is sitting in some Pixel devices for weeks now.

Charged creator, Owen Williams did a little inspection of camera API and reported: “It appears to be related to the system not correctly releasing a lock on the camera device, causing other apps to assume that it’s in use, and crash.”

Meanwhile, some Pixel users who contacted Pixel support have been denied a replacement for the device. Some are told to wait for a bug fix, while others are told that Google engineers are looking into the issue.

Here is a list of other known Google Pixel 3 Bugs —

It’s a shame that even after paying more than 700 USD, Pixel users are dealing with one bug after another.
