The launch of next-gen consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X is upon us. So, fans are scratching their heads, thinking about what previous-generation games will support next-generation consoles. Well, it looks like Activision’s Call of Duty: Warzone is one of many already released games that will run on on PS5 and Xbox Series X.Â
Infinity Ward’s studio narrative director, Taylor Kurosaki, told GamerGen that they plan on sticking to Warzone for “quite some time.” That is why it’s essential that the game is supported by next-gen consoles.
“I know that our plan is Warzone is going to be around for quite some time, so as soon as those new systems are out and available, I’m sure we’ll support them,” said Kurosaki in the interview.
Moreover, if Warzone will play on PS5 and Xbox Series X, then we can say that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will follow as well. That is because both the games exist in the same universe and built on similar technology.
Also, with the release of PUBG on Google’s cloud gaming platform, Google Stadia, fans are wondering if Warzone is also planning to arrive on Stadia. Well, if you’re one of those fans, then you’ll be disappointed.Â
Kurosaki confirmed in the interview that they have no plans on releasing Warzone on Stadia.
“We’ve got no plans on porting it [Warzone] on Google Stadia at this time.”
However, if PUBG is successful in Stadia, it would be no surprise if Infinity Ward changes its mind.
