Welcome gamers, today we will be looking at some of the best Android racing games of 2018. I have looked at all the genre of Android racing games. From simulation-style racing games to boosting vehicles in water, we have a treat for every racer out there.
I would recommend you to sample out each game before coming to a decision. Even better, keep all the racing games installed on your device. I mean, variety is the spice of life, right!. So, without further ado, let’s start the engines —

Best Android Racing Games of 2018
1. Asphalt 9: Legends
If octane boosters and hypercars come to your mind when you think of Arcade-style racing, then Asphalt 9 Legend will literally blow you away. The car racing game is gradually becoming the best Android game ever. All the stunning visuals, the HDR effects, detailing at every corner, this Gameloft game is seriously a legend among the gamers.
This racing game for Android has Touch-Drive as your default control options. You only have to focus on grabbing nitro-boosters, drifting, and diving in the air. Everything else, the game will take care of itself. While touch-down would seem a formidable choice, I always go for manual steering available in control options, to get the real feel of the game.
Winning races in Asphalt 9 reward you blueprints of new cars and unlocks additional content like Multiplayer mode, exclusive events, and clubs. You can race against up to 7 rival players in the online multiplayer mode. There is so much content in the game; I think you won’t feel bored, even for one second.
2. Real Racing 3
Real Racing 3 is the third installment in the Real Racing franchise by EA games. The Android game is one of the most realistic simulator game out there. The stunning graphics along with texture, and shadows detailing really bring out the “real” aspect of this Android racing game.
However, there is little catch with Real Racing 3. Unlike the previous installments where EA kept a one-time purchase model, the game has this freemium strategy. Upon earning in-game money and fame points, you will have to wait hours, to add new upgrades or buy new cars. And the sad part is you cannot race with the specific vehicle until the maintenance task is completed. It’s good for keeping you from playing too much, but that’s the opposite of what we want, right?
Apart from that, everything about the game is perfect. There is real-world tracks, real brands, real-life physics in working, and much more. As for the controls, you have a tilting device choice, on-screen wheel choice. Real Racing has always been a little difficult driving game, especially on those curves, so start off with a driving assist.
3. CSR Racing 2
I think there is one car racing genre that doesn’t get the adequate amount of attention it deserves (Big fan here). Unlike other hot-shot racing games, CSR Racing 2 is a drag-racing game. People who are unaware of it, drag-racing involves a straight up track and gear controls on your screen. The goal in drag-racing games is to get the perfect shift. In other words, shifting gear at the correct time, before your car engine blows out, just like drag race mode in NFS.
The best part about this Android driving game is the car-customization. From nitrous boosts, tyre pressure, gear ratios and various paint decals; CSR Racing 2 has every kind of tweak for your car. You can use in-game currency to upgrade your vehicle, which you be rewarded upon winning races.
Racing in CSR Racing 2 gets even better in the Real-time Street Racing. A multiplayer mode where you can compete with racers all around the world and add your mark in the annual rankings. If you want an adrenaline spike in any boring environment, this car racing game for Android is a must-have.
4. Need For Speed: No Limits
Another EA android racing game is Need for Speed: No Limits. And I believe it’s safe to say that the game has no limits. The popular racing game graphics will hold you spellbound for most of the time. All the race tracks are detailed to the extent that it will feel more like an Xbox game.
The only odd thing in this racing game I found was the short tracks. It will take max 40 seconds to complete races. But considering constant acceleration with control only on the steering wheel, it seems like a thought out decision. Like most of the racing games, the story is straightforward: Climb up the respect ladder by defeating over 100 bosses. However, the fighting with cops, smashing through roadblocks and ridiculously realistic graphics is what sets it apart.
While the whole setting keeps you enchanted, the waiting for gas-refill might be a turn-off. In the start, it won’t be a problem since leveling up will be too easy (level-up means gas refill), but as you will reach higher levels, the game will come off to a point where you will have to leave it for a while. Or you know, go for the easy way – buy some premium coins.
5. CarX Drift Racing
I wonder if any skidding fans are here because this game will be life-changer for you. CarX Drift Racing is one of the most popular drifting games for Android. Considering it takes less than 500 MB of storage space, I’d say this game has surprisingly fine graphics.
The driving game is essentially a car simulator in which you will have drift on curvy tracks. The more you drift, the more you score. Earned money can be used to upgrade your race-cars. The simulation-style game has different track modes like Drift, Time Track, Training, and Multiplayer. The game does not have any computer opponents to race. However, you can compete with your Ghost from the previous best record.
In comparison to other car racing games, steering is a little difficult in CarX Drift Racing. But of course, that would depend on your driving skills. I like how the mobile game has given a bunch of steering control options. You can choose between tilting the device; having steering wheel displayed on the Android screen; tapping left and right. Apart from that, you can enable Hand breaking, and Gear shifting to get more control of the car.
6. Riptide GP: Renegade
Any list of racing games never feels whole until the Boat racing fantasy hasn’t been addressed. Here we have Riptide GP Renegade on our plate. The jet-ski Android racing game is part of Riptide GP franchise, developed by Vector Unit. Running the Vector Engine 4, the game has some stunning arcade-style graphics.
Like the previous Riptide GP versions, the race p=ysics remains the same. You race a hyper jet ski, perform mid-air tricks upon hitting big waves or ramps. Nitro-boosters remain the same. However, the difficulty level seems to have been improved, considering I usually beat other players on my first race itself.
Other than that, Riptide GP Renegade has a campaign mode, online multiplayer mode, and even a local multiplayer mode where you can choose to play up with four players through split-screen. Career mode includes main races, Hot Lap, Elimination, and Freestyle. Instead of a Freemium model like most games out here, this one has a one-time purchase option of $9.49 on the Gogle Play Store.
7. Mad Skills Motocross 2
Mad Skills Motocross has always been the first choice for motorbike racing for mobile devices, and now you can download its next version – Mad Skills Motocross 2. You will be surprised to see the 2-D game graphics and detailing on the background objects.
In this Android racing game, your ability to control the vehicle will matter more than just speed. Mad Skills Motocross has brake and gas button on the left, and buttons to lean on the right. The right kind of landing along with appropriate leaning will help you gain more speed.
The carrier mode is divided over many difficulty levels like Novice, Expert, Master, etc. To unlock each course, you will have to complete all the previous levels. But that is where most of the people get stuck. Winning becomes difficult at every level in this driving game, making it hard for you to leap onto the next course.
However, you can use buy premium rockets which can help you winning the race. The new dirt bikes will anyway improve your speed and handling.
8. Horizen Chase – World Tour
Horizen Chase World Tour race you down into the memory lane. Inspired from the 80’s and 90’s games like Out Run, Lotus Turbo Challenge, Top Gear (SNES), Rush; the game recreates the atmosphere you encountered as a child. The app developer really seemed to have pushed the boundary for bringing the perfect 2-D car racing game.
For the controls, you only have steering, brake, gas, nitro. You can collect tokens lying on the race track to produce more score. Winning races will help you unlock the 21 unlockable cars and the undiscovered 91 tracks.
The best part about the game is the overall experience. Apart from the stunning 16-bit graphics, the Barry Leitch music really makes it feel like you are playing those old-school games. The free version only lets you play the San Francisco tracks, however you can make in-app purchases for unlocking more maps.
9. FRZ: Free Racing Zero
FRZ Free Racing Zero is fun-loving game whose colorful comic style look will entrap you for hours. The bird’s eye view game has a retro looking design which will feel like driving through the 90’s games.
The game includes a bunch of hurdles to face, but the top-most is the race track itself where hard curves, rugged paths, oil-spills will really test your driving skills. This time, there won’t be a boost to help you out. As for the controls, you only have steering left and right and nothing more than that.
While that would sound really hard, I bet you should try the game to get the hang of it. And there is in-game currency as well, that will help you make upgrades to your current ride. You can also check out local leadership board competition to know where you stand in the game. Also, you can challenge your friends to make them eat your dust.
