At its second hardware event this year, Apple has finally announced the much-awaited iPhone 12 series. The Cupertino giant’s next iPhone upgrades look similar to iPhone 4 with a rounded design and smaller bezels.

This year, Apple is bringing 5G to its iPhones after almost all the smartphone OEMs have already included it in their flagships since last year. The company says that the availability of 5G on the iPhone will boost your security as you don’t need to connect to unsecured WiFi networks to access the internet.

iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini will be available in black, white, blue, red and green colors this year.

iPhone 12 And iPhone 12 Mini Specifications

iPhone 12 features a new Super Retina XDR Display with 460 PPI which is twice compared to iPhone 11. Apple iPhone 12 carries a new rear material by Corning dubbed ‘Ceramic Shield’ which, as Apple said, is “beyond glass and tougher than any smartphone glass.” The company is claiming 4-times better drop performance with Ceramic Shield.

Apple iPhone 12 is powered by the A14 Bionic chip, which is the first smartphone chip in the world built on the 5nm process. The new chipset can perform 11 trillion operations per second and brings 40% more transistors over A13.

In the camera department, iPhone 12 brings a dual-camera setup on rear with 12MP ultra-wide camera with an f-2.4 aperture and 12MP wide camera with f1.6 aperture. In an interesting announcement, Apple is also bringing night mode to iPhone 12’s front camera.

iPhone 12 Mini, a smaller sized variant, features a 5.4-inch display and carries the same design with notch as iPhone 12.

Another new feature beside 5G in iPhone 12 is ‘MagSafe for iPhone,’ a wireless charging and connector tech. Apple has introduced MagSafe wireless charger that you can slap on the rear of iPhone and it will automatically align to the charger owing to magnets present on the case as well as the charger. MagSafe for iPhone supports up to 15W fast charging.

Apparently, Apple is removing the AC adapter as well as headphones from the iPhone 12 box for environmental reasons. However, the company will provide a USB-C to lightning adapter in the box.

iPhone 12 starts at $799 and iPhone 12 Mini will be available at $699.
