Anonymous Publishes Three Guides To Teach You “How To Hack” And Fight ISIS

ow-to-hack-isis-anonymous-1Short Bytes: Encouraging the people to join the cyber-war against ISIS, hacktivist group Anonymous has published three hacking guides. These guides have instructions regarding recognizing ISIS-affiliated websites, using a Twitter bot to uncover social media accounts of ISIS, and learning how to hack using a “NoobGuide”

The war between the hackers and terrorists is escalating quickly in the wake of the recent Paris attacks. In the short time frame of past two days, Anonymous hacktivist group has declared an open war on ISIS. In response, ISIS was quick to retaliate and called Anonymous ‘idiots’ who just know how to ‘hack email and Twitter accounts’.

In another development, Anonymous has released a series of guides urging the people to take part in their biggest ever operation called #OpParis. The guides include how-to instructions that tell the ways to hack the ISIS-affiliated websites and social media accounts.

The rivalry of ISIS and Anonymous dates back to the Charlie Hebdo massacre in January. Anonymous has continued its attacks on ISIS and already exposed more than a thousand Twitter accounts. To train and bring the newer generation of hacktivists, Anonymous has released three how-to guides.

These guides were posted on an IRC channel and Anonymous encouraged everyone to join this war against ISIS regardless of their computer skills.

The three hacking guides include:

A “NoobGuide” for the people willing to learn how to hack.

A “Reporter guide” explaining how to deploy and set up a Twitter bot for unmasking Islamic State accounts.

A “Searcher guide” for finding ISIS-affiliated websites.

An anonymous member, posting the guides to IRC, states: “There should be plenty of work to keep you occupied so get going. If you wish to submit anything of value, place your findings on ghostbin.com and share to the link to one of the channel operators and we can talk about what to do next.”

These guides have detailed instructions on how to carry out a cyberattack against ISIS websites using DDoS attacks and MITM (Man in the Middle) attacks.

Here are the instructions mentioned by Anonymous for finding ISIS-related website (thanks to IBTimes):

  1. Get Python at https://www.python.org/downloads/ unless you already have it (Mac does)
  2. Open Terminal (or Command Prompt for Windows) and type (without quotes) “python”
  3. Now, this step requires a little explanation. Let’s set this out neatly, shall we…
  • Copy the contents of the following link to your clipboard https://ghostbin.com/paste/oo4tb
  • The contents of that link are some search terms that relate to ISIS and their content, allowing you to narrow down the results to specific ones
  • Paste the strings into the Terminal and press Enter
  1. Choose a couple of strings (3 recommended) from the list of strings. For this example we will use strings 3+38+46
  2. Once chosen, continue in terminal (without quotes) “print(str3+str38+str42)” and copy the results
  3. Paste the results in https://www.google.iq and analyze the new results To translate pages, it is recommended to use Google Chrome, which has integrated translation
  4. Submit any valid ones to one of the channel operators and we will deal with the info accordingly

Anonymous aren’t idiots, they’re just smart.
Most of you won’t realise, that guide isn’t anything to do with hacking, you’re just crowd sourcing the accounts for them.

It’s interesting, I just got done posting a comment on 2600 about Anonymous. I said something along the lines of not really believing they are real hackers. Believing, instead, that they where or are just people in high places that know people in high places. I sort of dug into em and said “They hack passwords by clicking the “reveal” icon.” Now I said this cause I just thought their creed or whatever it is of “We don’t forgive, we don’t forget.” just seems lame, out of place for a hacker. Especially when you go down the rabbit hole and you realize that those 0’s and 1’s are actually quite mysterious. It’s humbliing actually, that’s just why it’s out of place. So I post my comment and scroll on and what do I see next? This article and I say to myself “Oh great, maybe I’ve spoken too soon.” Turns out, these ain’t even hacking! LOL, it’s just pulling data. LOL…. Ohh…dang it. Well, at least their enemy is my enemy.

tried multiple combinations of strings, the info sounds legit, the pastbin definately has a lot of potential phrases that would alarm a homeland security agent, yet every time i try to run the command lines that were in the tutorial all i get is string not defined. its like someone left out a step intentionally

Anonymous has been the only ones around to put a direct stop to Isis or Isil. Obama hasn’t done a thing to stop them.as for the hacking? well try Kali linux.. thats a no-brainer.Why use just windows? Kali was intended for that sort of thing. :)

Actually I think that IS called IS “idiots”, because they placed (idiots) in parantheses immediately after “Islamic state”…. !? Just a funny thought :) Thumbs up for Anonymous!

They said “tails” is the closest to protecting anon status however it is actually Whonix Gateway/Workstation which takes things a step further. More secure than tails.

epic fail x'D … dush IS did what anonymous could not do !
i read in other topic that anonymous said that IS atks are fake ? omg x'D
what about US command center ? what about the infos about the workers there that they pulished ?
dude if we want to win the fight against IS we should be honest to our selves so we can face them
lying is not going to solve anything

Launching a global cyber attack on a bunch of jihadi fanny farts getting the people to take back power and help. The more who take part the less Isis will be able to do online. Everone wants to help, do thier bit to protect thier families and while they can only do what they can Isis will be unconvinced enough to set themselves back in the dark ages where the scummy gutter tripe belong

But don't you be blind enough to think that anon are idiots… Never underestimate your enemy, whilst you believe this is all they are capable of there will more likely be things going on way beyond your puny little brainpower

Hahahaha, people are thinking that I am supporting ISIS here, but no, I am not supporting ISIS, I am against ISIS, I fuck them, but really I don't think so that Anon can easily find ISIS on internet.

Drake Lye not saying you are not but hacking is not the correct term but i suppose that the word "hack" gets people intrested which is fine, i was just saying that is a data collection method not hacking as such.

You should change https to http, so the link will become "https://ghostbin.com/paste/oo4tb" which seems to be working.

The fact is that this host doesn't have any 443 port opened

    $nmap 52.91.215.199

    Starting Nmap 6.47 ( https://nmap.org ) at 2015-11-18 17:50 EET
Nmap scan report for ec2-52-91-215-199.compute-1.amazonaws.com (52.91.215.199)
    Host is up (0.12s latency).
    Not shown: 998 filtered ports
    PORT STATE SERVICE
    22/tcp open ssh
    80/tcp open http

    ;)

Joshua Hibburt Thats because you haven't added Python to PATH.

Like I've been saying all along, this is a stupid but clever idea. People that can make a difference already are. IMO, if you can't use a CLI or write a program, you shouldn't be using these, you don't know what you or the scripts are doing which can result in a very unexpected consequence.

Actions have consequences, don't preceed unless you're willing to deal with them.

Chris Rogers Oh i know what it does. As i may or may not have just found out 5 minutes ago. Eerybody ^This guy knows what he's talking about^ Haha i use to be able to do it, just need to work out the kinks

  17. Avatar

Joshua Hibburt i resolve it… when you download python… and install it.. you have to click all the boxes… if you have installed click the exe file again and click on modify, then you click all the boxes… and next next blah blah

Ok… Basically you want to get rid of the " in text script and replace them with ' instead. I copied the whole list of search terms and pasted them into excel as HTML. The I pressed CTRL + F which brings up the find function. you then want to selected "find and replace" put the " in the find field and then put the ' in the replace field. It should now replace all " and the strings should be declared correctly. Next step is press the windows icon on the keyboard and R at the same time. Type CMD and enter. Now before you start up python type in chcp 1256 and hit enter. This will ensure that the arabic characters show properly. it basically changes the encoding. Then type Python and hit enter. Take the data we modified in Excel and paste into python and hit enter. Now the instructions should work and you can generate search terms.

I'd be more interested in someone discovering where they are getting their money. Whose financing this operation? Expose them and the crowd will do the rest.

The point of this post is to get no-so-tech-savvy people to take simple steps that can "reveal" ISIS related propaganda etc. to Anonymous, allowing Anon to save time, cut out the first steps of "locating" said sites, and dive right into taking down the site. "Submit any valid ones to one of the channel operators and we will deal with the info accordingly." And by the way, using python and utilizing terminal to skip steps and "locate" these sites, is in fact a Hack. You dont have to "infiltrate" or "compromise" any sites or any ones data to have the act considered as a Hack.

annonymous have drindled in numbers since the group split, anyone doing thier homework wil know they arnt as powerful in numbers as they once were, the task they have set for everyone willing is to add to thier eyes and ears, not to do any attacking but let them get on with that whilst we source out who they need to attack, its simple and very important they concentrate on the technical side of what others cant do and let those who spend days on facebook do the searching and identification

  29. Avatar

Yash Ubz check what you entered vs what it told you too. if one little thing is off (comma instead of a period, misspelling, etc) you will get a syntax error

This is solid information on noobs. Literally identifying ISIS members is nearly the same as shooting them. Every soveriegn country in the world wants them dead. I'm definitely going to spend some time trying to dox these fools.

  31. Avatar

Will Daniel given that at the very least they are going to cause a worldwide dos attack, this will slow things for the towel heads just a bit. now rememeber if there is no TOR or VPN it isnt hacking.

  32. Avatar

Henry Novellas its called slight of hand, get the world to perform a worldwide dos while they infiltrate. Id be willing to bet there is more to this than we can assume and i presonally wouldnt want to be on the recieving end of being the cyber target number one with a bunch of bored halfnoobs trying to get their hack on.
