Following the trend of celebrity social media hijacking, the most recent to fall under the group is Bollywood celebrity Amitabh Bachchan, whose Twitter account got hacked on Monday at 11:40pm.
It has been suggested that the actor’s Twitter account (going by the handle @SrBachchan) was hacked by a Turkish hacker group dubbed Ayyildiz Tim. It led to the replacement of Amitabh Bachchan’s profile picture with that of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The bio section of the Twitter account was also changed with the addition of Love Pakistan with the Turkish flag emoticon.
In addition to this, a promo image of the hacker group along with an eagle was uploaded as the cover photo on the account. However, it was later deleted.
After the account was hacked, a couple of tweets were posted, one of them being about Muslims. Furthermore, Bachchan suggested that various Twitter accounts of adult websites were added to his ‘Following’ section on the micro-blogging site.
The incident was investigated by Mumbai Police’s cyber division, stating, “We have informed our cyber unit and Maharashtra Cyber about *hacked* Twitter account of @SrBachchan. They are investigating the matter. Further updates awaited.”
The Twitter account was recovered within an hour of the breach.
For those who don’t know, Amitabh Bachchan, who currently has around 37.4 million followers on Twitter, fell victim to a similar incident back in 2015.
