AMD has finally released the second generation of its Ryzen processors. The new lineup consists of four different processors: Ryzen 7 2700X, Ryzen 2700, Ryzen 5 2600X, and Ryzen 5 1600. Compared to their predecessors, these new processors bring numerous advantages.
For these releases, AMD has worked to improve the architecture powering the Ryzen chips. Out of the four chips, Ryzen 7 2700X is the fastest chip with a base clock speed of 3.7GHz and max boost of 4.3GHz. This chip replaces the older Ryzen 7 1800.
The newer generation Ryzen CPUs are a lot cheaper as well. Compared to 1800X, which shipped at $499, 2700X is now available at $329.
If you’re running low on cash, Ryzen 5 2600 is the most affordable option; it’s available for $199. Clocked between 3.9GHz and 3.4GHz, it’s expected to compete with Intel’s Core i5-8500.
These chips are based on AMD’s 12nm Zen+ architecture. Next year, Zen 2 will bring significant architecture change and more improvements. It’s also worth noting that AMD is also giving a free “Wraith” cooler with every CPU.
Apart from the basic specification details, AMD has refrained itself from giving further information.
