At its surprise Echo event, Amazon has made a series of announcements. Being its most popular speaker, the Echo Dot became the first device whose refresh was announced at the event.
The updated Echo Dot is the successor of the version Amazon released in fall 2016. From the first look, you can see that growing competition in the smart speaker market has forced the company to add more style to the device.
The speakers are louder and better, thanks to the new 1.6″ driver for enhanced bass. The previous version featured a 1.1″ driver. The speaker is now driven by more power, which results in a 70% louder sound.
The new Echo Dot is available for pre-order today and you can expect the delivery next month. One last thing, the price of Echo Dot remains the same, i.e., $49.99.
