Sooner or later Tesla will eventually make its way into the Indian market. Over the past month, we have come across a few incidents that all point towards one conclusion: that Tesla is coming to India. Amidst all this, Maharashtra state’s Tourism and Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray invited Tesla to set up a local plant in the state.
The news was itself shared by Mr. Aaditya Thackeray through his Twitter handle. On 22nd October 2020, he tweeted that he, along with Industries Minister Subhash Desai, had a video conference with Tesla Team. Aaditya Thackeray said he strongly believes in electric mobility and that was the primary reason for him inviting Tesla to Maharashtra.
This evening I had the opportunity to participate in a video call by Industries Minister @Subhash_Desai ji with @Tesla team to invite them to Maharashtra. I was present not because of just the investment but my firm belief in electric mobility & sustainability @elonmusk

Tesla Might Come To India Sooner Than We Think
Earlier, this month we have reported that Tesla might establish an R&D center in Bengaluru. In fact, the Karnataka govt. and Tesla even had a discussion about the same.
A few days later, an unofficial Tesla Club India account asked Elon about company’s plans for India. To which, the CEO of Tesla, Mr. Elon Musk, tweeted ‘next year for sure’.

Elon seems as interested in India as the local Indian authorities. He has mentioned his plans for India a couple of times. We hope that soon we’ll see the company’s best selling car Tesla Model 3 on the Indian roads.
The price for Tesla Model 3 is $37,990 which will be around Rs 28.00 lakh. Since the Indian govt. also provides incentives on EVs, so we are hoping that the price will go further down.
However, the biggest challenge for Tesla’s electric cars would be to operate properly on Autopilot Mode in a country like India, where the traffic conditions are not ideal.
It would be interesting to know Elon’s thoughts on this. Moreover, thoughts of guys reading this also matter. So drop your views in the comments section below.
