Hyundai Motor Company has finally unveiled the fourth generation of its best-selling SUV Tucson. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson gets a hybrid powertrain along with an aggressive look.

With an overall sale of more than seven million units, Tucson is one of Hyundai’s most popular SUVs. The previous generation of Tucson had attracted many customers, and therefore the company hopes positively for its new model.

The SUV was long due for an update, and now the South Korean automaker has dropped the curtains off it. The all-new Tucson will be available in both long wheelbase and short wheelbase variants to meet various customer needs. Also, there are modifications to the overall design of the SUV.

The biggest highlight is its hybrid powertrain that will provide a low emission and fuel-economic ride.

According to the press release, the SUV will go on sale from September this year as a 2021 model in South Korea. However, in the US and other global markets, it will go on sale as a 2022 model with sales starting from the year 2021.

Mr. Thomas Schemera, Executive Vice President of the Head of Product Division at Hyundai Motor Group said, “We are thrilled to introduce the all-new Tucson, the latest model in Hyundai’s SUV transformation.

Engine And Powertrain

The 2022 Tucson will be available in three engine configurations, including a naturally aspirated ICE, hybrid, and a plug-in hybrid.

The non-hybrid engine is a 2.5-liter, direct-injected four-cylinder capable of producing 187 BHP and 246 Nm of torque. It will be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission system.

On the other hand, both hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants will be powered by a 1.6-liter turbo direct injection engine in combination with a hybrid powertrain.

The 1.6-liter turbocharged engine has an output of 177 BHP and 264 Nm of peak torque. However, the combined hybrid powertrain delivers an impressive output of 226 BHP and 349 Nm of peak torque.

The new hybrid powertrain comes with Continuously Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) technology for better power delivery, efficiency, and low emissions.

For the utmost driving pleasure, the new Tucson offers different driving modes, including Eco, Comfort, Smart, and Sports mode. The automaker also added mud, sand, and snow driving modes for some markets.

The new Hyundai Tucson has got some significant changes when it comes to the outer appearance. The most evident is the front grilles along with the daytime running lights. The edgy design of the grills, supported by the fog lamps, gives it an aggressive and modern SUV look at the same time.

In addition, the presence of those sharp lines on the side, alloy wheels, and sleek, long tail lights complete the sporty look of the SUV.

In terms of design, there are only subtle refinements. Users can choose between the standard 8.0-inch touchscreen or an optional 10.3-inch infotainment touchscreen for the center console. The MID seems pretty much the same as that of the previous generation. However, the automaker has brought some additional features to the upcoming model.

The new Tucson will come equipped with Hyundai’s Digital Key, which will allow users to unlock their cars using their smartphones.

Also, the automaker incorporated a “car to home” feature through which drivers will be able to link their smart home appliances to vehicles and control them. This is quite helpful in case you forgot to switch off your home lights or AC; with this feature, you can do that directly from your car.

Price

If we talk about the prices, it’s yet to be announced by the automaker. However, we’ll update it as soon as the company unveils it.

Anyway, what do you guys think about this new look of hybrid variant of Hyundai Tucson?
