Apart from the main releases, Ubuntu point releases mark the inclusion of new and improved hardware support. Thus, Canonical aims to ensure that Ubuntu desktop operating system doesn’t lag behind and remains supported during its 5-year LTS cycle.

However, the first Ubuntu 16.04 point release doesn’t ship with a new Hardware Enablement Stack. It’s the next point release, Ubuntu 16.04.2, slated to arrive in February 2017, that’ll receive a new Ubuntu 16.10-derived stack.

Ubuntu 16.04.1, the latest release of the world’s most popular open source operating system, comes with an updated webbrowser-app and Snap app support in Ubuntu Software. The new release also improves Unity’s low-graphic mode that allows one to run Ubuntu smoothly on older devices and virtual machines.
