donald trumpShort Bytes: An open letter, signed by various technology leaders, has been published on Medium. A concern for the appointment of the US Presidential candidate Donald Trump has been expressed in the letter describing his anger, bigotry, and fear for new ideas. They believe that Trump’s presidency will be a door to the dark fate of the nation.

Donald Trump, the American businessmen eying this year’s elections to become the most powerful man in the world, the President of the United States, has been a subject of a sophisticated disapproval. We are well aware of his ill-minded thoughts expressed over various public platforms in the US. It’s totally unsurprising to hear about the Open Letter – signed by numerous engineers, investors, researchers, entrepreneurs, and business leaders from the technology sector – which is for the removal of Tump from the presidential race.

“We believe in an inclusive country that fosters opportunity, creativity, and a level playing field. Donald Trump does not” — the Open Letter says.

The letter condemns Trump’s mindset of being a racist and the enemy to various diversity initiatives. He lacks innovation and would be an initiator to censorship of the internet in the name of security strategy. “His penchant to censor extends to revoking press credentials and threatening to punish media platforms that criticize him.”

Appointment of Donald Trump as the President would certainly lead to mass deportations of the people who are from other parts of the world living the US. The open letter states the fact that around 40 percent of the Fortune 500 companies have been brought into existence by some immigrant or their offsprings. “We also believe that progressive immigration policies help us attract and retain some of the brightest minds on earth — scientists, entrepreneurs, and creators,” — says the open letter. Kicking these extraordinary people out the nation would be a hard blow on the highly nourished ideology that currently exists.

The concern expressed by these technology leaders is obvious as the appointment of a chauvinistic and prejudiced candidate would also lead to bad foreign relations with other countries in the world. The United States is one the most powerful nations on the map which is one among the five nations possessing veto powers in the United Nations. An intolerant person representing such an influential nation would be a total failure to the society.

“Finally, we believe that government plays an important role in the technology economy by investing in infrastructure, education and scientific research. Donald Trump articulates few policies beyond erratic and contradictory pronouncements. His reckless disregard for our legal and political institutions threatens to upend what attracts companies to start and scale in America. He risks distorting markets, reducing exports, and slowing job creation.”

The various persons who have signed this letter are the pioneers of their own play areas but we would like to mention a few personalities out of the long list, namely, Steve Wozniak, David Karp, Dustin Moskovitz, Alexis Ohanian, Jimmy Wales, and the list goes on.

The letter concludes with the following lines, “We embrace an optimistic vision for a more inclusive country, where American innovation continues to fuel opportunity, prosperity, and leadership.”

It is no denying on the notion that the technology industry has collectively stood against anything that could be a potential blow to the basic pillars on the which the industry stands. A notable example is the Apple Vs FBI case where various companies backed Apple in order to resist FBIs urge to unlock an iPhone. This time, it’s is not just an iPhone which needs to be unlocked. A whole nation is on the verge of going into the hands of a narrow-minded businessman having intentions to mould the lives of billions of people as per his will. This act of joining hands to resist the negative forces is commendable.
